East Midlands

Leicester city centreThe East Midlands lies in the centre of England. It encompasses the combined area of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and most of Lincolnshire.

Steeped in history, the area was ruled by the Iron Age Corieltauvi tribe prior to the arrival of the Romans and later by the Vikings under the Danelaw.

The East Midlands comprises many areas of stunning natural beauty from its highest point at Kinder Scout to volcanic Charnwood Forest, the Wolds and to the East coast. Its central location allows easy access via motorway, rail and air.

The East Midlands rotation has 16 Urology trainees with posts in 3 teaching hospitals (Nottingham Leicester & Derby) and 4 district general hospitals (King's Mill, Lincoln, Northampton, Kettering).

The East Midlands Urology Society (EMUS) holds a regional meeting on an annual basis.
