What to expect
The training programme was re-structured in 2000 to put a strong emphasis on intensive monthly teaching days, a week-long regional teaching week in January each year (in Norwich), appraisal, goal-setting and audit.
Teaching days are demanding for trainees, with multi-disciplinary meetings and a mixture of topics presented by both trainees and trainers.
Regular teaching ward rounds are held in each hospital and prospective clinical audit on each leg of the rotation is expected with the objective of presentation at regional and national meetings.
There is a precedent for secondment to other units overseas and this will be encouraged for trainees of the highest quality.
Training
Educational training days take place on a monthly basis (except during the summer period) and are normally held in the Treatment Centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
