Ireland is a small country but it has a rich cultural heritage and a strong track record in medical research as well as in scientific progress.
The Health Service Executive (Feidhmeannacht na Seirbhíse Sláinte, FSS) is responsible for the provision of healthcare from public funds, providing services for everyone living in Ireland. The Executive came into operation on 1 January 2005, replacing the ten regional Health Boards, the Eastern Regional Health Authority and a number of other different organisations.
University departments are located in Dublin, Cork and Galway and there are many international links with Europe and the USA.
Graduates have traditionally travelled throughout the world to gain experience and have returned to bless Ireland with an unique blend of medical skills.
