Information on the regional workforce and training opportunities
What to expect
The Northern Region has 20 urology trainees, 5 of whom are academic fellows. Trainees receive comprehensive exposure to all aspects of urological care in both emergency and elective settings. In addition sub-specialty experience is provided as trainees progress through their programme. All aspects of the urology curriculum are covered, enabling trainees to complete their inter-collegiate examination towards the end of their training period.
Training
All trainees are assigned their own clinical and educational supervisors and are given ample opportunities to participate in research and audit projects. The training programme delivers a very high standard of overall urological surgical training, enabling trainees to compete at regional and national level.
The Northern Region Urology training program was scored top in the recent Deanery trainee satisfaction outcome survey and has one of the highest pass rates in the FRCS (Urol) examination.
