What to expect
Trainees rotate every 12 months, commencing in August, through a series of posts designed to acquire knowledge, skills and experience. Assessments are conducted twice a year: a face-to-face meeting in December and a more conventional assessment in May
A comprehensive, exam-focused, training programme has been developed which runs over a 3-year period. It provides training in knowledge/communication skills and team-working/interaction. Time is allocated according to the amount of information required for the FRCS (Urol) examination. This programme has been developed following feedback from the trainees and is felt to be one of the best in the UK.
Training
There is a "mock" FRCS (Urol) examination, held under examination conditions, each year for every trainee. In addition, all trainees take part in the EBU in-service MCQ examination. Over the last 5 years, there has been a 100% pass rate in FRCS (Urol) for North West trainees.
