South West

Land's End

The South West is the largest of the English regions with a population of 5.2 million, one third of whom live in rural locations outside the major conurbations. Its size and population give it the lowest population density of any English region. There are 1000km of coastline, including the Jurassic Coast (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and one third of the land comprises National Parks (Dartmoor and Exmoor) or areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The area is home to Stonehenge, the Eden Project, magnificent Bath Spa and quaint honey-coloured Cotswold villages. Beautiful Cornish beaches (the spiritual home of UK surfing), gently rolling Devonshire hills and miles of lush English countryside make the region attractive to anyone who loves the great outdoors. Approximately 22.5 million people visit the region each year to enjoy these and many other attractions.

The region is well connected to the major national road and rail networks, is served by ferry ports and has several airports which handle international flights. The Isles of Scilly, south west of the Cornish peninsula, are easily reached by ferry or by air.
