What to expect
The Yorkshire & Humber Deanery was formed in April 2008, following the merger of the Yorkshire & South Yorkshire Deaneries. At present, there are two separate training programmes: the Yorkshire & Humber programme (with Alan Paul as Programme Director) and the South Yorkshire programme (with Derek Rosario as Programme Director).
Both training programmes have a reputation for delivering high-quality, broad-based training with exposure to sub-specialty training governed by trainees' interests and requirements. A robust process of educational supervision drives the training schemes and is based on the "Gold Guide" as well as on sound educational principles.
Training
Training days are held each month and are arranged so that the entire urology syllabus is covered every 2 years. The days are structured primarily for either Yorkshire & Humber trainees or for South Yorkshire trainees but four deanery-wide training days take place each year to which Consultants are also invited.
Training days offer a mix of didactic lectures, interactive discussions, SpR presentations and viva practice. For details of individual meetings, go to the Yorkshire & Humber Calendar section.
