The section currently runs three audits as part of the BAUS data and audit project:
- Penile prosthesis
- Penile curvature
- Urethroplasty
All three audits have two parts, an operative form and a follow-up form, the latter being triggered at a specific time after the operation date.
Members returning data please note the following:
Penile prosthesis audit - each time a prosthesis is completely replaced, as well as entering this into the follow-up for the original prosthesis, a new prosthesis entry should also be created that is specified as a revision.
Urethroplasty audit - version 2 with slight amendments was released on 9 April 2010.
All the audits are available on the BAUS data and audit system.
Members can collect data using their own in-house systems and bulk import data to the BAUS data and audit system. File import guidance, which includes the format and content allowed for each field of the web-based datasets is available:
The penile prosthesis and surgery for penile curvature audits were first launched by the Section in November 2009. At that time, a Microsoft Access database was provided for members to collect data. All previously submitted data was transferred to the online data and audit system and with effect from April 2010 and this is the only way data for the section audits can be returned.
The Executive Committee hope that the wider Section membership will propose topics for future audits and participate in the running of the audit programme. The input of trainees would be especially welcome.
