Maisonneurve Blind Urethrotome (Goddard Collection)

Invented by Jacques-Gilles Maisonneuve of Paris in 1855

The urethrotome was passed through the stricture and the blade opened forward cutting through the stricture. The end of the urethrotome unscrews to reveal a thread, this could be attached to a filiform bougie or whip to guide the operator through the correct passage.
