Temple report on EWTR

Impact of EWTR on training

Last week, the report by Sir John Temple into the impact of EWTR on training was released.

BAUS had an input to the report at a joint meeting of the FSSA with Sir John and then, in March, we submitted our written response. The executive summary highlights the main points on the report which, in essence, promotes the concept of a consultant delivered service, that trainees must take more responsibility for their own training and that there is a conflict with service.

I encourage you all to read this summary because it does, potentially, have important implications for future service delivery and training. Not all consultants will be trainers but those that do must have this aspect more effectively recognised in their job plans.
