The BSoT 2022 Conference in Edinburgh on 27 & 28 January 2022 offers a breadth of learning opportunities for current and future urology trainees.
Day 1 addresses mental and financial wellbeing in training, and how to maximise these, as well as equality and diversity, and BAUS and BSoT’s plans for this from BAUS Vice-President Ms Jo Cresswell. Rounding out day one are podium presentation and sustainability in urology sessions, including a debate on single-use items.
Day 2 will provide a session on myth-busting the specialty board exam in urology (‘the FRCS Urol’) from the exam board’s chair Mr Andrew Dickinson, and advice on developing parallel careers from Prof Ian Pearce, Honorary Secretary of BAUS. The majority of day 2 is devoted to the subspecialty interest modules of the 2021 curriculum, covering for the more junior trainee why these modules would be worth pursuing, and for the more senior trainee, a knowledge update and key papers, as well as tips and tricks for each module’s indicative procedure.
For Core Trainees and medical students, the conference will be preceded by two bespoke courses focussing on success at national selection, and the knowledge and practical hands-on skills essential for excelling in managing urological patients in Foundation Years, respectively.
Abstract submission closed at 11:00hr on 16 November 2021 (24-hour extension). Abstracts were accepted on the following themes/topics:
- Advanced General Urology;
- Female, Neurological & Urodynamic Urology;
- Promoting Health in Urology;
- Sustainability in Urology;
- Quality Improvement in Urology; and
- Visual Abstracts.
If your abstract(s) has been accepted for presentation, the committee will decide which session this will be presented in. We will let you know if your abstract has been accepted or rejected by mid-December 2021.
PLEASE NOTE: in line with the conference themes, abstract(s) submitted for "Promoting Health in Urology" and "Sustainability and Quality Improvement" will be prioritised for podium presentations.
"Visual Abstract" submissions will consist of up to three graphics side by side, which must be legible at a scale suitable for printing on mugs.
