It has also shown that, despite countries working hard to maintain essential health services, a decade of progress in many areas could be stalled or reversed by the impact of the pandemic.

The main stumbling blocks to understanding the true effect of COVID‐19 appear to be a lack of data, and a shortage of health & care workers.
