1988 Bournemouth

Coming soon ...

The 1988 Punch Club meeting was hosted by James Bramble in Bournemouth.

There is no record of where members were accommodated, or of the scientific presentations. However, Mark Harrison, Richard Pocock, Krishnia Sethia (all former trainees in Bournemouth) & Terry Hamblin gave presentations - the latter talked about interleukins in renal cancer.

The afternoon visit was to the Tank Museum at Bovington where John Vinnicombe, much to his amazement, was re-acquainted with a tank that he operated during his National Service. Today, the museum brings history to life, with the world’s best collection of tanks and live displays.  Visitors can come face-to-face with over 300 huge military machines, and learn about amazing experiences as they explore the nine powerful and awe-inspiring exhibitions covering more than a century of military history.

The black-tie Club dinner was held in the boardroom of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Boscombe, following a special visit to the new Royal Bournemouth Hospital before it had actually opened to the public.
