Members Privacy Notice

If you are a member of BAUS you have provided personal information which we retain and use, having regard to relevant data protection legislation.
The information you provide during your membership application will be updated over time, so that we have an up-to-date record of your grade, post and current contact details.
We use the information you provide to us in a number of ways. Specifically, BAUS will:
- send you updates, newsletters and notifications of BAUS events;
- include information about you in the members directory, which is accessible in the members area of the website, for the purpose of member to member communication;
- invite you to participate in elections for roles in BAUS, or to participate in surveys which BAUS believe have merit and will contribute to the practice of urology;
- share your information with our journal publishers, Wiley and Sage, for the purpose of sending you the journals;
- for full members, include your details on the Find a Surgeon listing on the public area of the site; and
- use your data to further advance the mission of the Association.

BAUS will not sell your details to any third parties or share your details with any unrelated third parties without your consent, unless we are legally obliged to do so.

Security
We will take all reasonable physical, electronic, and administrative steps to safeguard and protect personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised use, access, inadvertent disclosure, alteration and destruction.
The security of any personal data is extremely important to us and we will strive to protect all personal data, but it must be noted that despite reasonable precautions no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, you need to be aware that if you disclose any personal information to us online or otherwise, you do so at your own risk.
All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers in the European Union. Any payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology and any credit/debit card or payment details you submit online will be processed and held by our third party payment processor, Worldpay.
Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of the BAUS site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not so share a password with anyone.
Your Rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 and The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) you have a number of rights with regard to your personal data. You have the right to:
- request from us access to, and rectification or erasure of, your personal data;
- restrict processing;
- object to processing as well as, in certain circumstances, the right to data portability; and
- withdraw consent if processing is based on consent, although you should note the basis on which we hold and process your data is that we have a legitimate interest in doing so as part of your membership of BAUS.
If you have provided consent for the processing of your data, you have the right (in certain circumstances) to withdraw that consent at any time; this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before your consent was withdrawn.
