Residential Operative Course

The Endourology Section organises an annual Residential Operative Course. This residential course is aimed at trainees and SAS doctors who have passed the FRCS (Urol) examination and have a confirmed CCT or CESR date, who wish to be appointed to a Consultant post with a sub-specialty interest in Endourology.

Applicants must be in their final year of training or within their first-year post-training, for example undertaking a fellowship. The course is not open to Consultants or those who have not yet passed the FRCS (Urol) examination.

The course is limited to four delegates and will enable delegates to operate as the primary surgeon with one-on-one expert Consultant assistance and coaching from local and national faculty.

The course will cover:

1.Urinary stone procedures, mainly PCNL and flexible ureterorenoscopy using a range of modalities such as Trilogy and Thulium and Holmium laser.
2. BPH surgery: HoLEP, Aquablation (for the first time) and MISTs such as Rezum.

BAUS will be running the Residential Operative Endourology Course at Whiston Hospital, Prescot on Wednesday 28 October - Thursday 29 October 2026. The closing date for applications is midday, Wednesday 22 July 2026 - places are limited, so please book your place early.

Applicants will be selected based on their previous Endourological experience. They should demonstrate evidence of an active interest in the sub-specialty and must be current members of BAUS.

Delegates have always found this course useful -  feedback from the 2023 course can be found here and feedback from the 2024 course can be found here.

After attending the course, delegates have the opportunity to take advantage of a travel bursary.  Feedback from one of the 2024 bursary-supported visits can be seen here
