Ketamine Uropathy

Ketamine uropathy is a medical condition caused by the recreational use of ketamine, a drug originally developed for anaesthesia. It causes severe urinary symptoms, including bladder pain, urgency, and reduced bladder function that can have a serious impact on quality of life. Long-term abuse of ketamine leads to progressive damage in the urinary tract, mainly in the bladder wall, resulting in chronic pain, frequent urinary tract infections and even irreversible bladder damage that may require major surgery.
