Pelvic Organ Prolapse Stress Urinary Incontinence

This training webinar introduces the POPSUI registry, a standardised national registry for recording stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse procedures. Developed in response to concerns about vaginal mesh and the recommendations of the Cumberlege Review, it explains the registry’s background, purpose, PROMs and practical use for clinicians in gynaecology and urogynaecology,

The webinar makes clear that submission to the POPSUI registry is mandatory and a legal requirement, as directed by the Secretary of State. Compliance is monitored against national data, and all eligible procedures must be recorded. Failure to comply may lead to restrictions on a unit’s ability to carry out this surgery and a delay in lifting the pause on mesh use for SUI. Mandatory data submission to POPSUI is separate from voluntary datasets such as BSUG and applies at unit level to support complete national reporting.
