Our fellowship provides a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dedicated urological oncology team. The role offers hands-on experience and training in a range of advanced procedures, including robotic prostatectomy, robotic partial nephrectomy, laparoscopic and robotic radical nephrectomy, and laparoscopic and robotic adrenalectomy. Additionally with respect to prostate cancer treatment we offer focal therapy in the form of HIFU and cryotherapy and are looking to start IRE. We work closely with our oncology colleagues to deliver high and low dose brachytherapy and have a business case in the pipeline to offer rectal spacers.
We perform both robotic and open radical cystectomy, with a particular focus on complex cases such as salvage cystectomy. Additionally, we have a dedicated pelvic exenteration team providing comprehensive multidisciplinary care.
As the regional referral centre for complex urological oncology cases, we specialise in open radical nephrectomy with IVC thrombectomy, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND), and other major retroperitoneal surgeries.

We are one of the major research centres in the UK, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be actively involved in research. For candidates with academic ambitions, we are committed to providing support and mentorship. We have a professorial stone unit and are building our oncology portfolio. We are actively recruiting to a number of oncology trials including: PACIFIC, CLIMATE, ATLAS, SUNRISE and MOONRISE; and will continue to develop our clinical trials portfolio. UHSFT has a strong research department and can support novel trial ideas.
The department runs multiple local multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings in addition to regional MDTs, in which the successful candidate will participate. There are ample opportunities for involvement in audits, and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the prostate audit. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to contribute to multiple audits throughout the year, with the potential to present findings at BAUS.
