Hawassa Receives COSECSA Accreditation

Our colleagues in Hawassa, Ethiopia, are to be congratulated on receiving recognition as a COSECSA accredited centre for training.

Particular mention should go to Dr Aberra Gobeze for initiating the process with Shekhar Biyani in 2010, and to Getaneh Tesfaye Teferi and colleagues for getting this project across the line.

Establishment of a Consultant body of sufficient size to allow Hawassa to act as another training hub in East Africa would not have been possible without funding from the BJUI.

Additional contributions came in the form offinancial support for training at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) by a generous anonymous donor from the south-west of England, encouraged to provide funding as a result of David Dickerson's work in Tanzania.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
