Executive Committee

Elected members of the Executive Committee are chosen by members of the Section of Oncology through a process of nomination and voting, administered by BAUS.  

Other members of the Executive Commiittee are either co-opted, because of their specific expertise, or appointed ex officio (e.g. a Trustee of BAUS appointed to attend committee meetings).

Additional individuals may also be invited to attend Committee meetings on an ad hoc basis if their specific expertise is required in a particular clinical area.

Krishna Narahari (Chair: 2021 to 2022)

Krishna is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He joined the team in 2017, and was Honorary Secretary until his appointment to the Section Chair. He specialises in prostate and kidney cancer treatment including robotic surgery. He is a busy general urologist, and active in both clinical research and education

Alexandra Colquhoun (Hon Sec: 2021 to 2022)

Alex is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and joined the team in 2019. She trained at the University of Leicester, and trained in surgery and urology in the East Midlands, followed by a fellowship at the University of Toronto, before she started as a Consultant in Cambridge in 2011. She is a member of the Cambridge University Hospitals' team for aggressive bladder cancer (The Bladder Oncology Service)


Jonathan Aning (Member: 2021 to 2022)

Jon is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Bristol Urological Institute and joined the team in 2021. He specialises in the treatment of prostate and bladder cancer, including robotic surgery. Jon is a keen researcher and passionate about improving patient outcomes. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Bristol University and is actively involved in research into prostate and bladder cancers.

James Armitage (Member: 2021 to 2022)

Jim is a Consultant Urologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and joined the team in 2021. His special interests include laparoscopic renal surgery, laser prostatectomy, endourology and lower urinary tract disorders

Viswanath Hanchanale (Member: 2019 to 2022)

Vish is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen Hospital and joined the team in 2019. His special interests include managing prostate and bladder cancer patients (i.e. pelvic oncology). After qualifying in medicine in India, he pursued a urological career and completed specialist and robotic surgery training in Leeds. To enhance his robotic skills, he supplemented his robotic training with attachments in Belgium and New York

Benjamin Lamb (Member: 2021 to 2022)

Ben is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and joined the team in 2021. After a Fellowship in urolo-oncology and robotic surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia, Ben has focused on robotic surgery. He has a research interest in multidisciplinary cancer teams (MDTs), and has presented work on decision making, non-technical skills, and leadership in MDTs. His other interests include enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), quality in healthcare & teaching at all levels

Bhavan Rai (Member: 2021 to 2022)

Bhavan is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at South Tees Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Teesside and joined the team in 2021. His extensive experience has led to expertise in the surgical management of prostate, kidney and bladder cancers using open surgical techniques, and over a 500-case experience in minimally-invasive approaches including robotic renal and pelvic cancer surgery

Thomas Walton (Member: 2019 to 2022)

Tom is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Nottingham City Hospital and joined the team in 2019. He has a specialist interest in minimally invasive surgery, prostate and renal cancer, and all aspects of general urology. Tom is lead urology cancer clinician in Nottingham and a member of the International Upper Tract Urothelial Cancer Collaboration. He is also the Director of Robotic Urological Surgery at Nottingham University Hospitals


Sarah Fowler (BAUS Cancer Registry Manager)

Sarah is the BAUS Data & Audit manager. She oversees all the BAUS cancer databases and is responsible for the production of Surgical Outcomes Data (part of the Consultant Outcomes Project)

Kate Linton (Co-Opted: 2020)

Kate is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHSFT and joined the team in 2020. She is an outpatient-based general urologist with an interest in the management of men with prostate cancer. She was co-opted to bring a more generalist view to the committee activities.


Rhona McMenemin (Co-Opted: 2017)

Rhona is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Freeman Hospital Newcastle. She joined the team in 2017 and represents the British Uro-Oncology Group (BUG).  She has an interest in urological cancers (especially  testis, kidney and bladder) and has sat on the NCRI Testis Clinical Studies Group.  She is actively involved in education, and leads on SSCs in clinical oncology for the Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) where she has a dedicated clinical trials unit in the Sir Bobby Robson Unit

Susan Willis (Co-opted Trustee; from 2021)

Susan Willis is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Guy's Hospital, London and was co-opted as a Trustee in December 2020 for a two-year period. Susan was co-opted onto the Oncology team as Trustee representative in January 2021.

Emma Papworth (BSoT Rep: from 2019)

Emma is an ST5, currently based in the South West Deanery. She joined the team in 2019, and represents the BAUS Section of Trainees (BSoT - formerly known as the Specialist Urological Registrars' Group, SURG) on the Committee
