Results of a BAUS membership survey (first published Mar 2014)
Urological emergencies account for almost 25% of general surgical emergency work. Conditions encountered in the emergency situation include:
- Trauma
- Torsion (pictured right)
- Ureteric colic
- UTI & pyelonephritis
- Pyonephrosis
- Haematuria & clot retention
- Fournier's gangrene
- Urinary retention (acute & chronic)
- Epididymo-orchitis & scrotal abscess
- Paraphimosis
Members of BAUS were surveyed in February 2014 on their provisions for emergency urological cover.
