This document contains advice that should be helpful to commissioners in the different cancer networks who are considering how best to improve the quality of care for men with prostate cancer.

Whilst the results of randomised trials comparing surgery and other methods of treatment for men with localised prostate cancer are awaited, commissioners should ensure that patients go to "high-volume centres" and "high volume surgeons", to ensure the best outcomes.
