This is the sub-specialty of urology which covers the investigation and treatment of benign conditions of the lower urinary tract, and related problems within the female genital tract.

The focus is on disorders of function and on inflammatory conditions affecting these systems.

A major component of the subspecialty is neuro-urology. This includes the management of patients with neurological conditions that have an impact on urinary tract and sexual function. These include static conditions (such as spinal cord injury & cerebrovascular disease/strokes), as well as progressive disorders (such as multiple sclerosis & Parkinson’s disease).

The next meeting of the Section will take place during the BAUS 2021 Virtual Meeting.

As members are aware following the closure of the BAUS SUI registry and pending the development of the national registry it is important that surgeons continue to audit the outcomes of SUI surgery. BAUS has made this skeleton spreadsheet available (requires log-in) to allow full data capture for your own records during the interim period.

Click here to download an update from the Section on COVID-19, published in Nov 2020; this document includes a short survey, but is only available to view by BAUS members (i.e. it requires login).
