Joanne Cresswell

Jo Cresswell is the current President of BAUS.

Jo took over as President from Tim O’Brien at the Annual Meeting in Birmingham in June 2022. She is the first female President of BAUS.

Jo was appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon at South Tees in 2008, after completing her specialist surgical training in the North of England, and a fellowship in pelvic oncology in Germany. She completed a doctorate in bladder cancer immunology at Newcastle University (PhD 2002) which was funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS Eng).

She is a past Chair of the BAUS Section of Oncology and was one of the clinical leads for the Consultant Outcomes Publication (COPs) for cystectomy in England, until the programme was stopped in 2022.
