BAUS 1959 Glasgow

The 1959 BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting took place from 15 to 18 July 1959 at the Royal Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow (pictured upper right), St Vincent Street, Glasgow.

This was a joint meeting with the Canadian Urological Association.

Other Information

On Thursday 16 July, following presentation of several short papers, the Annual Dinner was held in the Grosvenor Restaurant, attended by 156 members and guests. During the dinner, the St Peter's Medal was presented to Dr LN Pyrah.

The morning session on Friday 17 July was devoted to "Hydronephrosis". During the afternoon of Friday 17 July, an excursion was held to Loch Lomond and members were entertained to tea at Rossdhu (pictured lower right), the residence of Sir lvor Colquhoun, now incorporated into the grounds of Loch Lomond Golf Club.

The Annual Dinner-Dance was held at the Royal Scottish Automobile Club that evening, with 159 people attending. Honorary Membership of the Club was extended to members and the ladies attending the meeting.

After further papers and films on 18 July, members and their guests enjoyed a cruise down the River Clyde.
