2013 Stevenage

The 2013 Punch Club meeting was organised by Damien Hanbury at Lister Hospital, Stevenage.

Members and their partners stayed in the Coltsfoot Country Retreat, Datchworth (pictured right). Damien & Helen welcomed everyone on the evening before the meeting to their beautiful home, Howells Farm, in Halls Green.

The accompanying persons enjoyed a guided tour of St Albans cathedral (supplemented by varying amounts of shopping) on the first morning, before meeting up with club members at Perry Green (see below).

On the second day, they enjoyed a guided tour of Knebworth House.

Club members were treated to presentations from the Lister Hospital staff as shown in the tables below:

THURSDAY 10 OCTOBER - Coltsfoot Country Retreat, Datchworth
Chris King CT urography: competencies & incompetencies
John Bycroft A stone’s throw away
Jim Adshead Urachal carcinoma in the robotic era & Frozen section for RALPs
Charlotte Foley Mesh and the female pelvis - what now?
Enric Vilar Should I worry about this?

Following the first-day presentations at the hotel, members and their partners were transported to the Henry Moore Foundation in Perry Green, Much Hadham for a fascinating insight into the mind of one of Britain's greatest sculptors. His output was incredible and his versatility astonishing.

Although he is best known for his huge abstract sculptures (example below and with the thumbnails), it was surprising to learn that he had a little-known talent for creating tapestries, several large examples of which can be seen hanging in his display buildings.
